ATD released the Talent Development Capability Model in January 2020, which is the framework for what talent professionals need to know and do to be successful. This replaces the 2013 ATD Competency Model. ATD follows best practices and updates the competency framework for the field every five to seven years. ATD anticipates that updates to the current Capability Model will be announced in mid-2026.
