To be eligible, APTD candidates must have one of the following:
- Three years of work experience in which at least 50 percent of work hours are in the talent development field or related discipline. Related disciplines include human resources, higher education or similar; OR
- Two years of work experience in which at least 50 percent of work hours are in the talent development or related field PLUS one year of college/university study in talent development or related discipline; OR
- Two years of work experience in which at least 50 percent of work hours are in the talent development field PLUS successful completion of the ATD Master Instructional Designer program, the ATD Master Trainer program, or the ATD Master E-Learning Instructional Designer program.
