ADDIE is a traditional instructional design process that emphasizes up-front analysis, design, and development of the learning course, followed by piloting and evaluation. Now that e-learning is increasingly prevalent, waiting to test a program after everything is developed can result in costly changes and delays. So we’re now seeing the emergence of models that are more agile, such as SAM. SAM stands for Successive Approximation Method and enables the professional to test their course sooner. The steps in SAM are to evaluate first, then design and develop the course, and then repeat the process by evaluating the first iteration of the course.
